Left Coast Diesel is currently in the process of converting a 1997 Chevy 4×4 Diesel (6.5) to Cummins 12v power. The old engine spit out a head gasket badly enough that coolant was pouring out of the exhaust. At 200k miles, it actually put up a pretty good fight.
Our customer loves his truck and decided to take the plunge into a conversion. We utilize AutoWorld and DeStroked for the conversion parts. Their quality and customer service are awesome.
We sourced a good running 12v from a 1997 Dodge with 150k miles on it. That will be coupled with the 4L80E from the Chevy that will be controlled with a PCS, laptop-programmable setup. This allows us to crank up the line pressure and play with the shift points to keep the Chevy trans alive behind the almighty Cummins. According to AutoWorld, they have several conversions running this combo at 550rwhp for years. Click on the link below for a slideshow on the teardown.
